Tip: If you want to fully enjoy the waterway without having to worry about time constraints, it makes sense to plan ahead.
I made the trip from Stoney Lake to Trenton one year and thought we could do it in two days. Before I made the trip
I calculated exactly how long it would take given a certain average open water speed and accounting for all the speed
restriction zones along the way. The only way I could make it in two days was to plan on going faster than allowed
in certain areas. Being the good and conscientious boater that I am, I knew it couldn't be done. So instead of swamping every dock along
the way, I took my time and made the trip in three days. Boating is supposed to be fun, slow down and enjoy it.
